Erik Thomson is officially Australia’s favourite TV dad with Channel 7 announcing that it has commissioned a second series of [Aussie / NZ co-production] 800 Words.

The hit Aussie drama, which features Thomson as bereaved father George Turner, has been a ratings monster averaging around 2 million viewers nationally each week since it launched on September 15.

The success of 800 Words is a testament to Thomson’s star power after he anchored former Seven hit Packed to the Rafters alongside Rebecca Gibney.
