GCM is thrilled to announce that Thomasin McKenzie, best known on NZ screens as Pixie Hannah on Shortland Street, has landed the female lead role in a major feature film in the United States.

Based on the novel My Abandonment, the drama, titled Leave No Trace, will be directed by Debra Granik. Granik also directed Winters Bone: the very film that landed actress Jennifer Lawrence her first Oscar nomination and launched her career.

The film will be shot in Portland, Oregon and tells the story of a father and daughter living off the grid, the role of the father is to be played by Ben Foster.

We are very excited for Thomasin to take this huge next step in her acting career, at age 16 this will be her first American role.

When interviewed by The NZ Herald Thomasin said “It was just so unexpected and kind of surreal…we’ll do a lot of filming in the forest and there’s some scenes in the snow, which is really cool because I love camping.”
